Tour de Gem
Saturday, August 31, 2024
Tour de Gem is a fundraising cycling event for local nonprofits to raise money and bring awareness to their important missions. This is a fun, family-friendly way for cyclists of all ages and abilities to have a positive impact in their community and explore the many GEMs the Dayton region has to offer. The 2024 team has not been announced. If you are interested in cycling with the Brunner Literacy Leaders Cycling Team, please call 937-567-9600. All of the funds raised this year will raise money for literacy and inspire people to read. The Brunner Literacy Center (BLC) is one of a kind. No other place in our community uses one-on-one tutoring or will teach an adult who has never read. Brunner helps adults learn English and earn their GED®, and more! Today, you can take the first step toward changing lives through literacy by riding with the team or donating to support a team member's ride. 100% of your donation changes a life and goes directly to BLC. Stay tuned for more details. |

Do you have an hour a week or more to give? Are you ready to get started?
Whether you have a professional teaching background or not, there's a place for you at the Brunner Literacy Center. BLC volunteers come from all walks of life - teachers, yes, and also accountants, engineers, homemakers, and more. Whatever skills you have, there are adult students who want to learn what you can teach. The BLC will prepare you to become a tutor or to help in a number of other ways - administration, event planning, and others. Let us know how you can help, and we'll get you trained. Tutors are needed at both BLC locations and for distance learning opportunities including evening and weekend availability. Distance learning may take place in person at public locations such as libraries and coffee shops, or virtually via video or phone calls. Attending a volunteer orientation is necessary regardless of when, where, and how you would like to volunteer. To schedule your individual orientation session, please call the BLC at 937-567-9600. |
