The Dayton Foundation has generously awarded a $7,500 Greenlight Grant to the Brunner Literacy Center.
This grant will be a tremendous help going forward as the BLC makes progress toward opening our new branch locations. The Dayton Foundation's gift will go toward furnishing and purchasing necessary materials for both of our upcoming Catholic Social Services sites. The Brunner Literacy Center relies on the generosity and commitment to community development demonstrated by The Dayton Foundation's gift. We look forward to using these funds to further our mission and to bring the joys and benefits of literacy to more people in Montgomery County! The Dayton Foundation is the regional community foundation for Greater Dayton. Since 1921, the Foundation has helped people to help others. 6/1/2016 New Centers UnderwayThe BLC is excited to announce our upcoming expansion into three new locations around Dayton! Over the course of the BLC's (nearly) five years of operations, we have seen phenomenal success and as a result have encountered ever greater levels of need in our community. In Fall of 2016 we will begin opening BLC branch locations in conjunction with Catholic Social Services and the Day Reporting Center at the Dayton District Office of the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction. Tutors will be needed at all four locations, so if you or someone you know has warmth, generosity, and joy of learning to spare, contact us today. Says BLC Program Manager Barb Maloney: All materials will be provided. All you need is the drive, and the drive is simple - to serve the underserved. Tutor Training Workshops are scheduled to be offered in August and September. Take a look at the details of those sessions here, and contact us if you have questions or wish to reserve a spot in a program. Check out our profiles of the various branch locations below. |
