5/31/2016 Unexpected GiftsThe month of May brought many unexpected gifts to the BLC in the form of monetary donations from several local groups including the Dayton Rotary Club Foundation and the African-American Women's Giving Circle. On May 3rd, a member of the African-American Women's Giving Circle arrived at the BLC to present eleven checks, each for $100. The women of the AAWGC periodically get together to select a charity or nonprofit organization to whom they wish to donate financial gifts. They discuss their options, pray together, and once they have made their decision, each individual member writes a $100 check. This May, the Brunner Literacy Center is gratified and thrilled to have been chosen as the AAWGC's current recipient of this powerful gift.
A few weeks later, on May 23rd, the BLC's Executive Director, Celine O'Neill attended a meeting of the Dayton Rotary Club Foundation. At their event, the DRCF awarded a $3,000 check to the Brunner Literacy Center to aid with the expansion of our program offerings at various new centers in Dayton. The staff of the BLC are excited about what these financial gifts can do for us and for the community we serve.
