Clay's Vaccine Experience

In this video, BLC staff member Clay White shares his experience of how vaccines protected him years ago in Vietnam. He is excited that he has been able to protect our country again by getting a COVID-19 vaccine.

NOTE: This video was created in January 2021. Since then, the CDC has said that individuals can now feel safe taking off their masks two weeks after their last shot of the vaccine. These two weeks allow enough time for our bodies to build immunity after the shot.

Vax Facts

Here are some important things to know about the vaccines that are available in the United States:

• The three COVID-19 vaccines approved in the U.S. are Pfizer (2 shots), Moderna (2 shots), and Johnson & Johnson / J&J (1 shot).
  
  
• We now know that all three vaccines used in the U.S. protect us from getting COVID-19 and from spreading COVID-19.
  
  
• The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are 94-95% effective at protecting against COVID-19-related sickness. The J&J vaccine is 66.3% effective at protecting against COVID-19-related sickness.
  
  
• All three vaccines reduce the chance of hospitalization and death from COVID-19 to 0%.
  
  
• Even in rare cases when people do get COVID-19 after being vaccinated, the amount of virus they have is much smaller than usual. That means they are much less likely to spread COVID-19 to someone else.
  
  
• All the vaccines are safe, and no steps were skipped when creating them.
  
  
• In Ohio, you can enter a lottery to win 1 million dollars ($1,000,000) if you have at least one shot!
